This is a very basic celadon recipe I have used for a number of years. It came out of an experience working in Cambodia in 2008-2009 where a very simple glaze which used just a few materials was needed. The recipe is (66 feldspar/ 16 clay/ 16 whiting/ 2 iron). It has been very reliable, but its appearance varies a lot depending on the underlying clay. It can sometimes be clear and crazed, sometimes satiny and opaque. I really like the way it has turned out on this cup. Clear with crazing and breaking brown on the edges. The cup was made from a blend of two locally sourced clays on the outskirts of Vietiane and fired to cone 9.
