Suze Lindsay and Kent McLaughlin lived and worked at Fork Mountain Pottery since 1996. Their studio and gallery, nestled in the mountain ridges on the way to Roan Mountain, is 6 miles from downtown Bakersville, in western North Carolina.
Suze's stoneware pots subtly suggest anthropomorphic form and character as she manipulates by altering, stacking and combining parts to create functional forms with personality. Suze decorates her pieces by patterning and painting slips and glazes, and then fires the pieces in her salt kiln.
They shared a passion for working with their hands, and for making pots for everyday use that are well crafted and a pleasure to use. That use can range from a mug for your first cup of coffee in the morning, to lighting the candelabra for an intimate dinner.
