ARTIST STATEMENT
The pots I produce will remain on this earth for generations. With this awareness comes a great responsibility: to create works of art that will be continually treasured. These pieces must be beautiful and joyous, voicing my legacy not only as an artist but also as a human.
My pots focus on the interplay of form and surface. As I make, I gather inspiration from classic forms, the natural world, and the human figure. Each piece is a delicate balance of drama and simplicity, emphasizing clean lines from rim to foot. I use porcelain as my clay body. Its beautiful, smooth surface forms the perfect canvas to capture my glazes.
When it comes to glazing, my muse shifts to the lively and bold colors found in traditional Asian textiles, Portuguese architecture, and Mediterranean tile work. I am constantly testing and experimenting to find new, vivid glazes that captivate viewers, filling my work with energy and joy. Through this creative dialogue between form and surface, I aim to create pottery that transcends the ordinary.
My ceramic art pieces serve as a reflection of my ongoing artistic journey, which is ever-changing.
