Boo Lee is a porcelain art and pottery studio, owned and operated by Sean Adams and Sydney Ziemke. Sean studied ceramics and painting at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Sydney began her ceramics career in 2015 while working for Schaller Gallery in St. Joseph Michigan. They’ve been making work from their private studio in Stevensville, Michigan since 2017.
SEAN ADAMS BIOGRAPHY
I studied ceramics and painting at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I work with pigmented porcelain from my home studio in southwestern Michigan, alongside my partner, daughter, and four dogs. My work is slip-cast from models I throw on the wheel. During the leather-hard stage, I carefully apply hand-cut stencils and paint the cast forms with pigmented slips, which I adjust to a very specific thickness to achieve a bas-relief effect. I make my own clay and glaze, and I fire to cone 6 oxidation.
