As a child of a Steiner school, I have been making things my whole life.  I completed my BA(Hons) in Ceramic Design at Central Saint Martins in London, and went on to further my knowledge of clay by working as an assistant to several potters. After graduation, I worked for MUD Australia where I learnt a lot about their process. Perhaps the most significant takeaway was that I wanted to move away from slip casting as a process, and finally learn how to throw on the potters wheel. From there I worked as an assistant at La Meridiana Ceramics in Italy, which exposed me to many amazing teachers who used a variety of methods in their processes. I completed my first wood firing, as well as getting extensive dedicated wheel time. I went on to apply for apprenticeships both at the Leach Pottery and with master potters Nic Collins and Sabine Nemet. I apprenticed with Nic and Sabine whilst working and teaching at Studio45 in Devon, UK. Both of these experiences worked in harmony as I was learning the essential skills of being a full time wood firing potter, as well as gaining valuable skills in teaching workshops and running a studio. A few years on and I am very grateful for these experiences as they’ve  given me an appreciation of what it means to live a life with clay.

My pots are made on the wheel and are altered with the addition of slab constructed details. This approach presents an opportunity to manipulate the thrown elements, creating pieces with individuality. They reflect the beauty and awkward imperfections of being human. I rely on form and colour to create a sense of whimsical nostalgia, lending these objects a timelessness that reflects their enriching role in our lives.
